Thursday we hiked the Columbia River Gorge. As Doug put it, the hikes all had purpose, each had a gem awaiting us at the end—a giant cascading waterfall.

Unfortunately, like the frescoes in Italy, after you’ve seen a handful, you lose appreciation. At least I did. I mean how many pictures in front of a waterfall could one take?
For dinner we went to Tabla in the Hawthorne area right outside of Portland. (We hoped to stay in this hipster neighborhood but the hostel we scoped out was full.) Tabla was exquisite all around. We had a 3course Pre Fix deal with a wine pairing and were treated like royalty. Mmmm….I’d go back in a heartbeat.
